Azteca Mexican Restaurant

Azteca Mexican Restaurant

Today 9-30-12
My mom and I went to Azteca’s Today and very sad to say was not very friendly. It almost seemed like we were in his way and he didn’t want us there. I think last time we went here our waiter was ok (not mean but not rude). The (what I’m guessing) manager was very nice. The First thing you get is some chips and salsa and well the salsa was a little salty but very good. (The salsa was good enough that I would eat it with very little to no heat.) The Carne Asada Burrito (my mom got) was very good looking. The Carne Asada Quesadilla (that I got) tasted amazing I was very happy with what I got. My mom had Ceviche it looked good (and well im a chicken I didn’t try it.)The Atmosphere, one word ELVIS!!!! This restaurant as a lot of Elvis memorabilia, the first thing you see when you walk through the front door is a life size Elvis. Today was a Baseball game and it was fun listening to everyone cheering for their favorite team.  The owner loves Elvis you can tell because all of the posters on the walls and even on the ceiling!  And he a comes to the Friday night cruise dressed like Elvis (which is so cool to see)

What we got:

 Carne Asada Burrito   (5.75)

Carne Asada Quesadilla  (  5.75   )

Ceviche (Shrimp and Crab Cocktail) 5.75

Kaye’s Kitchen

Kaye's Kitchen

Today 9/14/2012

My grandma and I went to Kaye’s it is a cute 50’s Diner theme all the way down to the red and black seats and the black and white checkered floors. The things I love about the diner is how they have old time pictures on the wall and the original sign (which is extremely cool to me) from Tony’s. (It is mostly fun to go on Sunday because there is a farmers market and it is a great place to go for lunch). The food to me is quite good and very flavorful. And well I have a new favorite place to go for French fries and an amazing steak and wonderful hash browns. The Bacon cheese burger is amazing and then with the fires (a few words OH MY GAWD). The Shakes are good too( I didnt have one on this visit). The service is very good and if you get to know the waiters and waitress’ they are very friendly (even though they are friendly if you dont know them). They are very fast and they really get to know the customers. And even though we go on Friday night for the old car cruise and well they do get busy but I know I haven’t seen it when there are no seats In the house (there is always one open for you).

Kaye's Kitchen you have a repeat customer.

What we got:

I got the Steak and eggs (but I dont like the eggs from anywhere) 7.99

Bacon Cheese Burger (Grandma already started eating it and well it is squished but other than that it looked good) 6.99

Now some things I took pictures of:

 The cool sign
 When they were established
 The Mug

The Original Philippe

Today 9-5-12
My mom, Grandma ,Grandpa and I went to Philippe’s in L.A. This Original restaurant is cash-only (but there is a ATM on site), This classic location is a 1908 sandwich legend that is in Chinatown, The food is great big sandwiches (Beef Dip, Pork Dip, Ham Dip, Lamb Dip, Turkey Dip all 6.50)with your choice of side dishes (at Additional cost) (it is a party for your taste buds) served by very nice ladies. The Drinks are served by can except the lemonade and the tea. Their mustard is quite hot  (it will clear your sinuses so don’t use to much unless you like the heat), The decor is great with a  old time feeling (which has not been changed). It has sawdust on the floor and long community tables with stools to sit on. It is good for family’s and very good for lunch. But you have to get there early because there will most likely be a line. But it is worth the wait.

If you are in LA, you MUST eat here at least once.

 What we had:

Beef Dipped sandwich (6.50) Fresh fruit cup (2.50) Lemonade (.80)

Apple pie (3.65)

The sides (additional cost)

 The cool old telephone booth
 I like the Budweiser advertisement

Las Brisas Taco Shop

Today 9/3/12
My mom and I went to Las Brisas it's a little hole in the wall place.
The two of us ate for under $20.(which I thought was a fair price for some tacos.) And the salsa we got while we waited for our order was fresh with a touch of  heat (a little to much for me…. But I’m a wimp so don’t let me discourage you from eating it its rather good in fact)  and the tacos are to die for. The server was pleasant and it helped since we were the only ones in there... but it seemed like she didn’t know what to do with herself. A few of the menu items were written on bright colored paper on the walls. The tacos were amazing and authentic (but who can go wrong with carne asada). They were super nice. I can see myself coming back for their 99 cent Taco on Monday and Tuesdays! The drinks we got were in a can and I do not favor that (When I want to get refills I want to get refills and do not want to get charged for another can) so I ordered water, also the air conditioner was not working so it was extreamly hot but our waitress tried to turn it on and opened the doors but it tried to cool down but it didn’t work so other than that it was a pleasant experience.

Las Brisas-- you've left me satisfied.

What we got:

The Salsa we got (sorry no chips we ate them)

 My Tacos (Carne Asada)

Moms Tacos (Carne Asada, Chicken, and Carnitas)

 The soda and the water.
